5.Project Meeting November 29

We arrived at Stuttgart airport in the afternoon. After a long que at passport control, Edith met us at the airport. At the school the kids greeted us with a fabulous ceremony. We were touched by the warm welcoming of the parents, kids, Frau Moser Ehrlein, the inspector, and Frau Schimdt, the person who is responsible from the day nurseries in Karlsruhe. The kids sang our national anthems and played them with the flute. After the ceremony we tasted the delicious, traditional food made by the parents. It was a fairly rich buffet meal. Then, we checked the physical circumstances of the school.

Edith and Jasmine took us from the hotel and we came to the school. The kids performed a brilliant show. They celebrated Reinhard’s and my birthday. The countries presented their gifts to eachother. Then we had our Project meeting and Edith made a presentation about the daily routine of the school and she showed us some examples from the kids’ portfolios. We had lunch together with the kids. After the lunch we had a chat with the kids. Then we went to a Christmas Market in Black Forest. It was an interesting area with the national architecture. We had a rest in a coffee shop where we tasted the traditional deserts. After a small shopping we visited the Narrenmuseum Niggelturm Gengenbach museum and we had information about their old traditional festival. Edith explained us their traditional carnival in detail. At the square we watched the ceremony of “Jim Knopf kommt nach Gengenbach”. After that at dinner we tasted a delicious traditional food and had a chat.

5.Project Meeting December 1

Edith and Jasmine took us from the hotel. At the school we made the second Project meeting. After a few technical problems I presented the Program and each school tried to enter the data. After a long meeting, the countries gave their Project activities to eachother. Janet and Edith had the most hard working team. Because we spreaded the activities over during the year, we completed the “Diary” and delivered the activities to our partners. We are grateful to our partners and their students for their attentive work. We had lunch together with the kids. After the lunch we took the train to the Municipality. The building was rather modern. We met the mayor Herr Dr. Lenz (social major). He gave us information about the system and showed us around. After the refreshments he gave us a booklet about Karlsruhe. We were honoured by knowing him. After that we had free time for shopping. In the evening we went to a restaurant and tasted delicious German food. We would like to thank Edith for the meal and her friendship and hospitality .

5.Project Meeting December 2

We were taken from the hotel by our German Friends. Today is our last day in Karlsruhe. We visited the Adam Remnele School which was opposite the Day Care Center. Frau Knopf, the Second Head Teacher, showed us the school and gave us information. Then we had a chat about the smilarities and the differences in our education system. This school was called Haupt Schüle. They start school at the age of 6. Here the kids take 4 years of primary education first. After 4 years, according to the student’s success, the parents and the teachers come together and decide whether the kid should stay in Haupt schüle or go to another kind of school like Real schüle or Gymnasium. At this school they give importance to practice. For example; in one of the classes the kids learn how to cook and wash clothes and dishes. All the classes are arranged specially for the lessons. After that visit, we came back to the day care center and sang songs with the kids. We took a little walk around the center. Edith showed us the beautiful areas for various outdoor facilities. We were tranced by the richness and variety of those fields. We met Edith’s very young mother outside the center. We had fun in our last hours at the center. The kids prepared wonderful shows for us. One of them was “ The Musicians of Bremen”. It was prepared by the group “Taka Tuka Land”. The other was “The Little Butterfly” performed by the kindergarten students. They were fabulous. At the end they gave us beautiful gifts. We would like to thank our friends and their students by heart.

Our beloved friends, Reinhard, Melanie and Edith gave us a ride to Stuttgart. We will never forget their friendship and hospitality. In the evening we settled in to our hotel. And then we had dinner at a sushi restaurant.
